Feature: The Edict System / Herald's Post Introduce a new structure (like a Herald's Post or a table in the Great Hall) where the player can issue official Edicts. These edicts apply a powerful, short-term strategic buff to the entire settlement in exchange for a high cost (Gold and resources).

Example Edicts and Rationale:

  • The Great Build (Edict of Labor): Grants +15% Building Speed for a limited time (e.g., 48 game hours). This is crucial for mass construction before an attack or rapid expansion.

  • Cost: High quantity of Wood and Stone.

  • Mobilization Edict: Grants +10% Melee Damage and +10% Armor to all Companions and Guards for 24 game hours. This is essential for preparing for a large-scale bandit raid or launching a major assault on a hostile camp.

  • Cost: High quantity of Gold and prepared Rations/Meat.

  • +Edict of the Diligent Hand:* Grants +10% Production Speed (Crafting, Smelting, Weaving) for a longer period (e.g., 72 game hours). This is used to quickly overcome a bottleneck in the supply chain or fulfill a major equipment order.

  • Cost: Moderate Gold and specific, mid-to-late-game materials (e.g., Cured Leather or Flax).

  • **Harvest Bounty (Edict of Plenty): ** Grants +20% Gathering Speed for all Food (Hunting, Farming) for 48 game hours. This is activated when stockpiles are low or when preparing the village for the Winter season.

  • Cost: Moderate Gold and Herbs/Spices.

  • Edict of Administrative Peace: Temporarily reduces the consumption of Food and Water by 10% for 24 game hours. This is vital for managing resources during critical shortages or when establishing a fragile new outpost.

  • Cost: Low Gold amount.

This system turns the Chief's role from passive management into an active strategic tool, making resource expenditure a meaningful choice.

Some general law mechanics would be fun. Not me wanting a full on religion system, law system, diplomacy, etc

My idea is to transform player suggestions, such as "I wish the game was faster," into decrees. No one is obligated to use them if they even become part of the game. I'm simply trying to inspire developers with new ideas and integrate them meaningfully into the game. 😉
