I ended up assigning all my signs to its own outposts for this exact reason.
Yeah, I ended up making lone signpost settlements. When it's announced bandits will raid the signpost settlement, I move the signpost into a new fake signpost settlement. Raid never happens 😄
Or, if it does, it's close enough to a NPC village, that the guards there kill the bandits
Yea, this is one of the reasons a suggested a bell tower be a fast travel point. With this option, I would only need to have my travel signs at my outposts instead of near villages.

Bell tower's as fast travel point's is a very good idea, +1 here
It's not only signposts. Traps are also counted towards patrol and i have them quite far from my village. On the other hand I didn't noticed my guards going to signposts so maybe it's connected to something else then just having them within the village
