#workers still put they weapons away

I like the idea of a tool slot for villagers! Any time they use a hoe, shovel, or bow, they remove their shield to do so. This is also a consideration for when you give a villager an axe as a weapon but they use it for chopping wood so a tool slot would help villagers keep weapons and tools separate. In order to keep a shield ( or bow for hunters) I need to forbid that villager from farming (hunting for shield users) and no mud collecting.
Problem is, the hunter camp doesnt recognize bows as a tool, making thr hunters drop the shield in the hunter camp inventory and picks up the bow.
AND when they are done hunting, they do not put back the bow and pick up the shield, meaning that suddenly my army is messed up, with my 1h/shield guys using bow instead and now my hunter camps are full of shields and the bows are randomly spread through my workers.
That is truly annoying.
The Current Patch added a tool slot, I haven't tested it much but seems like they're listening and making fixes to help problems like this
Well your hunters should all be good archers. And in battle your archers should have a bow not a shield. I don’t see the problem? Why would you have a melee companion as a hunter or a skilled archer as a shield soldier ?
@craggy wing - What a shallow view of the problem.... My hunting lodge can only have 5 designated hunters. Making 3 Lodges so I can keep all of my archers as hunters is possible, but useless as the area will be over hunted and I have a lot of other work that needs to be done in the village. I have over 40 Villagers. I use 10 to 15 archers and 30ish melee when I fight Big Reclamation parties (although I can now solo all sized raid and parties with no cheese). I assume that you are looking at the problem from a viewpoint that isn't that far in the game perhaps? The problem that used to arise is the other bow-carrying villagers drop their bows to pick up a shovel or a hoe. Along the same line, the shield carrying villagers used drop their shields to use a hoe or a shovel etc. Either way, the argument is settled because it seems that the developer saw the wisdom in the suggestion and realized the issue as a real problem because if you look at any of your villagers (as of the last patch... before you posted your comment), a tool slot has been added!
Actually, no. Archery and hunting are two different things and for what I can see, does not affect eachother.
If my archer has 2/4 in hunting but my melee has 5/7, then I am definately putting that melee up - and should be able to do that.
The hunting skill is how much they will get from each kill. The hunting is done with a bow so how many kills they get will be affected by their archery. High both will fill your storage fast.
Of course - but if the archer doesn’t have high hunting skills, then it is pretty moot. I like to be as effective as possible.
Although I am pretty tired of having to babysit those warriors and their shields… :/
If you think back to when you started it’s not a huge difference to what you get with higher hunting. Although mines only 4 or 5. But high archery gets you a ton of kills and loot. I found one that was like 8 in archery and 6 in hunting and I filled my storage built like 50 trophies and i still have so many I use them as trading resources.
