you should make all the tables(work tables) and there upgraded "variants"(work stations and higher) be able to do what the pervious ones could do. example ( to make create gears you need to use the carpenter work table, yet you cant use the carpenter "work station" ) similar issues with the other "Tables" might be nice if possible to "back track"
