Hello! I'm enthusiastic about setting up YARG on my desktop machine, where I've recently changed over to Linux. Unfortunately there is no sound output of any kind.

I checked the troubleshooting guide on the wiki. I am using Kubuntu 25.10, and already had pipewire installed prior to downloading YARG.

Edit to add: I have tried multiple output devices. Onboard sound, and my USB speakers. They play audio from all other apps.

Bump. Has anyone else experienced or resolved this issue? It is still present for me on version 0.14.0.

Try the nightly build, then look in experimental settings. There's now more options for explicitly setting the output device within YARG. It may or may not help, but worth a shot

have you tried using pavucontrol? sometimes i have to use that to direct the game audio to my default speakers in Ubuntu

I have tried pavucontrol, yes.

@sly remnant I am having some success with the experimental setting! I can get the audio to play through my USB speakers, as well as headphones (3.5mm audio jack). Some notes:

  1. occasional cut-out in the music. still plenty playable.
  2. the volume appears a bit low even with YARG's master set to 100%. Could be my setup but other games/videos seem to go higher.
  3. YARG does not yet seem to respond to Plasma's "set volume over 100%" feature. 101-150% seem to have the same loudness as 100%.

I would be eager to help test and report if you need more eyes on the output selection feature.

That's a start! You could try setting the audio buffer (like 30-90 ms) in sound settings to see if that resolves the cut-out
