I get the need to have an indicator that something's changed during gameplay, but can we get maybe a mark near the score box or something instead of the current system?

I didn't think the red multiplier bar would bother me, but man it does. Guess that's 15 years of looking at that part of the screen and having it different, real distracting. As are the marks on the highway. As the notes go past it catches the eye repeatedly.

I just wanted to turn infinite front end off of casual.

No big, just a request.

*edit: Yeah, like the progress color around the score box, or having notches on the side of it would be nice. Don't care at all about that, but it feels pretty intrusive on the highway.

The way this is handled currently isn't final, however, the reason why we do it is to prevent cheating. Let's say you make an engine preset that makes it really easy to hit notes, and you tell everyone that you played X song on the default engine preset. If there's no indication, there's no way to know for sure. We could put the indicators on the score box, but that's easy to crop out or edit out. If you crop or edit out the multiplier, it's immediately suspicious.

Once we get leaderboards in this game, this will likely go away or be changed to be way more subtle. The introduction of leaderboards also means a reliable replay system, and anti-cheat. If you attempt to do this with the leaderboards, people can simply ask "can you send the link for this run" or "can you send the replay file".

Obviously no method is fool proof but this is what we settled on for the time being.

Also another thing to consider is that adding the indicators in score box would not work in multiplayer

Yeah that all makes perfect sense, and is great to hear. I'll just roll on casual until then.

Ill take a look in other ways of representing the engines
