With files coming from various sources and custom creators, it would be nice to have YARG be able to normalize audio to a certain level. Mixing songs between RB and GH often leads to different volume levels.

My eardrums will thank you for this

iirc stable already had something of the sort but i might be wrong @faint pike

Late response but audio has a compressor applied to it. This prevents peaking but doesn't increase the volume of quiet songs. Should be in both stable and nightly

#

Added the compressor a long time ago to fix a certain bass stem for a certain GH2 song

@faint pike - I would love to have it normalized and/or compressed to reduce the highs and increase the lows. Doing some pre-analysis during the scan could determine the LUFS/peak DB and apply filters accordingly, knowing it will dramatically increase the initial audio scan time if the option is enabled. Knowing that the audio quality of custom (and pro) content can change drastically, it seems like a good way to proactively guard/prevent users from blowing out their speakers.

the compressor is done at runtime, speakers cant be blown out unless you set the volume extremely high

as for analysing it at scan time, we wont do that
