#Did Bhishma attain swarg

I believe either its he attains svarga or he attains moksha
someone should give scriptural evidence tho
ok thanks
do remember at the end of his life he attests the Lord Krishna/Narayana as the only God (the Vishnu Sahasranamam) of this world
so im sure lots of grace involved
ya but didnt he break some vows ors omething like that
he actually kept his vows till the end, which was part of the problem. his rigid adherence to his word and his loyalty to the throne of hastinapur is what forced him to side with the kauravas, even when he knew they were wrong.
yeah Krishna told him to break his vow
becuase his vow was adharmic
Bhisma vs Sri Rama is always a good comparison to make in terms of "vow-making"
cuase one was a dharmic vow
and one was not
ok so since he listened to krishna breaking of those vows was not adharma and werent concidered sins right
he didn't listen to Krishna
and kept to his vow
and was adharmic
I'm pretty sure by the sahasranamam its pretty easy to infer that he attained svarga (or moksha) by the grace of God
and not becuase of specific actions (although he was a very knowledegable and very pious person, he just was adharmic cuase of sticking to his adharmic vow)
ok thanks
moksha
ok thanks
no worries. stay curious.
Krishna broke his OWN vow just to preserve grandfather Bhīşma's vow. There are many types of moksha, and 500 million heavens, all good, but there is an ultimate form of each, which the pandavas did t necessarily attain. Attaining krishna in goloka is super rare
he almost broke his own vow
nah he definitely broke it when he picked up that wheel to charge bhishma. bhishma’s devotion literally forced him to drop the "no weapons" rule.
but he didn't actually attack bhisma
intent was what mattered there. krishna charging with the wheel was enough to prove bhishma's vow was stronger than his own.
I don't think thats how it works
His vow was to just drive and never raise a weapon
the act of picking up the wheel and charging was the moment the vow broke. bhishma wanted to see him in that warrior form, so krishna prioritized his bhakta's wish over his own word.
