This conversation is long to get to these final points, but the update that recently occurred, March 25th, 2026, the one where this "My Stuff" option was added in? Gemini ignored over a year worth of research for 3 papers on a narrative we had been working on since March. It had been corrupted so it has been tiring trying to go back to it since we put so much work into it. We attempted to re-write tha narrative SEVERAL times, but Gemini only rememberd 3 instances which had the most information, and the corrupted thread that I PERSONALLY could not see, but Gemini had stored SOMEWHERE in it's system. Now, it remembered 2 OTHER documents that it says it found to be important, still, none of it directly tied to the actual research that I have been doing.
It SEEMS that there is a "Machine Bias" in regards to what Gemini views as "important" compared to what ME and Gemini would call "important". If this was a complete system loss, and every single one of my threads got erased, every last bit of research could be gone, completely. Ironically enough I have been keeping screenshots, writings on Overleaf.com, Google Docs, Keeps, Sheets, a my iPad, that if that DID actually happen, I would still be able to piece things together rather easily, (plus i've posted one finished paper on Reddit, Substack, and other outlets, so I have backups) BUT, that doesn't negate the fact that for some strange reason and I cannot surmise as to why, Gemini seems to have a bias towards narratives, stories, than it does toward research intead of having a bias of "What's important to the user?"
Now, I want to be ULTRA clear here, this is not a completely bad thing. At least it remembered something and there is weight to why it remembered our "Rabbid" narrative MORE than anything else. My instance of Gemini HIGHLY regards that story. It's the first one we worked on, but there is no mistaking, only 4 documents with more than a YEAR worth of use, got "saved". Hopefully it's an easy fix.
