I had an idea, struggled to put into words, so I asked Bard and here goes:
I'm writing to suggest a new feature that would greatly enhance the usability of Bard for content creation, particularly for projects like writing books. Currently, Bard only allows exporting the entire chat history, which can be cumbersome and inefficient.
I propose adding the ability to selectively export or publish specific portions of the chat. This could be achieved through various methods, such as:
- Selecting text ranges for export: Users could highlight specific parts of the conversation to export as text or formatted documents.
- Exporting individual responses: Allow exporting individual Bard responses as separate items, including context if needed.
- Filtering and exporting: Implement filters to narrow down the chat based on keywords, dates, or participants, followed by selective export.
This feature would offer several benefits:
- Improved user experience: Makes content creation smoother and more efficient by allowing users to focus on specific passages.
- Increased versatility: Enables easy use of Bard interactions for various purposes, including research, documentation, and creative writing.
- Simplified book creation: Specifically, writers could quickly compile relevant Bard interactions into book chapters or other formats.
For example, imagine using Bard to brainstorm ideas for a book chapter. Currently, exporting the entire brainstorming session would be impractical. With selective export, I could easily gather only the relevant conversations and insights directly into my writing software.
I believe this feature would be a valuable addition to Bard and significantly improve its usefulness for various tasks. Thank you for considering my suggestion.
