New to mods
A sign at the city hub that says to get legends, profession, and demigod powers as a priority for new players should be posted.
professions: I wanted to be a blacksmith, but we needed a way to get around early... so i switched to sailing. sailing has been very beneficial for our group but the moder buff and ship speed isnt conducive to availability or desire to sell/trade taxi rides. I would balance the skill loss on death and improve my speed on boats to be able to ferry people around... also my buddy is a chef. no one can really get access to our food. I think a way to sell things on a marketplace from my base would be ideal. otherwise we can't get the whole server to come to our base for food, especially newer players or ones who dont have abililty to cover a large distance in a reasonable amount of time, which is why i think sailing needs to be improved if a remote market isnt available.progression seems great, i love the epic mmo quests and modded gear aspect to the server. bounties and treasure hunts, all great. after nerfing indestructible, i have found it to slow my progress down. its just a hassle bringing lvl 2 forge or armory or fletcher table around, but i understand ... making blacksmiths much more viable as a resource... havent been able to hire a blacksmith though, no responses.
in the bank, the ward has stopped us from gathering stuff on the ground... it is explained tho. shards i think are the most useful item in the game, would be nice to get those from questing
have run into some issues where i think a player driven FAQ might be good to have in the discord... ppl tend to just shout questions that mightve been asked/answered before... instead relying on mods/admins to answer questions would be nice to have a player driven aspect to drive community interactions, and have limits to the conversation that pertain only to progress/mod behavior. could be a good resource for new or stuck players

For what it's worth...
Runestones should be sacrificed for Shards. Then I can farm bosses for rolling mods, much more appealing then running regular mobs that I one tap for an hour.
Moder should be 100%ish tailwind passive.
Profession should have no death penalty, to induce exploring and visiting new zones. For some reasons 8 star faeries wreck me... Dunno what damage type they are, can't find any info to theory craft a solution. It's possible I can't sail home if I die too much. Haven't found a recipe for sailing armor yet. Lost 25 levels in one day... At that point I have no desire to grind to 100... I'd lose hours of sailing XP. Sounds counterproductive if you want to share a sailing skill
Remote auction house would be ideal. I had a box of gold... What do I want, to buy what I need. If a blacksmith or chef or alchemist wants to trade for money, we have to physically meet up or both go to town. With more players, this will compound. Lack of high level professions on the server make me find my own solution, which is the opposite of the spirit of the server IMO
Don't shit on new players for asking dumb questions in global or discord discussions. Help them... I don't consider myself dumb but sometimes I just want an answer not to read the forums for answers. Sometimes I'm okay with reading wikis and researching theory crafting ideas... Sometimes I'm in the.middle.of a joint.mission with a group and can't.just stop and read for twenty minutes. Be nicer.
If someone needs help writing a thorough walkthrough that can be proof read by an admin devoid of spoilers, I'd donate time to write it. I enjoyed "finding" solutions to game progression mechanics but if a guy can't set up his computer to turn on the game or pick his demigod power and that is a reoccurring theme... We should revisit it. As a sailor I'd pick people up from spawn and drop them off somewhere and answer their questions. Craft them a legendary armor set (which was done for me) and say gl hf.
Ranger: at first I didn't use it much. Then I got triple shot. Now I one tap mobs and sneak a lot... But it's only viable solo for the stealth kills. The class isn't good for bossing. The wolf is useless, maybe it's supposed to pull aggro when I lose stealth/sneak...
Ullr: the sense mechanic didn't really work or make sense what it did. Other than that I liked it
Sailing : read above
Can't pick up anchor when people are in the boat. Can't use my boat if in a players ward
Base building: improved angles should be vanilla unless a hotkey is pressed for additional angles. (Granted haven't researched the issue)
Newer wards added, might revisit this once tested.
Lived in bf- core wood not used in auto kiln... Reasonable to leave alone... My smelter ate a hundred iron scrap at one point, just didnt respond to auto add from chest and got tested into Narnia... Could be looked at maybe it was lag.
Some mines popped ore outside the dungeon into the over world...
Durability 0 = deleted tool/Equipment - I'm torn I like the idea but it happened to me when I was on the phone... Pants got deleted... Pretty brutal. Idk... Maybe if there was an on screen warning but all it does is make me hit tab ever so often to check my durability... Keeps me going home more often... Or put crafting station in every biome I want to farm in... Not sure what y'all's spirit of the server is. I don't mind putting a safe house in every biome I'll be in a lot but deleting an item from the armory for tyrannium gear... That's a lot of mats and I need to farm out a stack of ursa pelts or topaz which takes hours on hours to get... A little too much
Portals to town? Maybe put in some portals dotted around that took you to the city. Just a thought. At my first.my inclination was to be able to put a portal in my base but it could only go to the central hub... But I think that could get abused.
Just a pet pieve but can we make the wispplight actually work?
Slayer quests for Ash/DN
Maybe a way to earn a second profession? Hildir bosses quest line?
Bounties were cool but getting some weird bugs where the entity wouldn't spawn for me to kill sometimes... Almost worth it to just craft a new item sometimes and enchant it instead of removing the emchant... Depending on the reward or item I'm crafting... I'd weigh the time sink risk/reward of doing bounties...
edit: found the creature almanac tab... was told to me...
the weapons tab having a sort by weapon type for achievements would be nice.
An endgame player not knowing about achievements being able to be "equipped" is I think a detriment to the player base, as mentioned before one shouldn't be expected to know everything and there should be a place to visit specific to this server for info just like that... A discord text channel thats not just 7 pages of memes, but useful info and a guide to mechanics would be ideal. I think having a no spoiler rule on it and be specific about what is/ isn't allowed would be cool. when something new gets added that is a great tip... you could add it to the pinned section. I don't like handholding in games
a potion that would prevent you from losing skills upon death... i would by that all day
Thats literally the player guide
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=36Ry-KjieWU see video for first point
- skill loss will be balanced in the future. Maybe even in the new map.
- marketplace will never be player base. it'll only be available at cities
- sailing speeds overall are fine
- you can still repair your stuff at a table. literally anyones table. however it's much more beneficial to let blacksmiths MAKE your gear and maintain your gear.
- quests will reward all types of items in the future
- new player guide
Today i ramble through ideas, modpack building, foliage and mechanical insights of the modpack

- epic loot feedback can be left here: #1176321429051023401
- lol no
- also no.
- no
- no thats what the new player guide is for
Feel like I was just complaining... I'd like to know what you're looking for specifically... I'm here to help in any way I can. Can't wait for the new map!
- nothing i can do about it
- demigods likely wont remain
- k...buy better boats or use better boats
- dont download gizmo then
- nothing i can do about lag or a self inflicted bug due to greylist mods.
- no. because then i have giant holes fucking everywhere and no one asks for them to be filled in
- plan your trips better and have blacksmiths maintain your gear.
- feedback on maintaining stuff can be left in their relevant threads. eg. epic loot in epic loot. etc
- thats the plan with wayshrines. players will have a hearthstone that's a one way tp to their last bed location and wayshrines between cities will cost money of various prices
- dont have an intention of changing how it functions. THat's what the hand lanterns are for
- boy you should meet the alchemists then
I need to do research on what all the mods do and everything, sometimes when I look up the mod it isn't clear on what they do from thunderstore. Or at least specific answers. This is still pretty new to me
Yes with the new map having less ocean I'll be a blacksmith... Seems like that'll help, wayshrines sounds good. We are already planning our run. I'm gonna try different class/build
not possible
Hand lanterns?
As far as search in almanac by weapon type, for me knife... Some weapons weren't named knife, they were abyssal razor for example... I'll be looking into 100% all knives or maces or something and it doesn't pull up knives it just pulls up things with knife in the name... Probably can't be changed but still feedback none the less
Defeated the the storm in the north Boss, was there an item that helped with movement speed debuff in the north or did I just miss it
Any who thanks for replying, keep up the good work
it should already have this
- again thats why people are expected to read the ENTIRE player guide BEFORE they join the server. if something is missing it can be added there. i dont care about spoilers. if the community wants to help each other and roleplay as "helpers" etc that's cool.
theres a button on the main menu of the game, theres a pinned message in #vg-valheim-discussion
