#I had to let a friend go today

There's a reason why they were trying to make you drink again: it's all thanks to their negligence, mischief, and so on. They're not monsters but nuisances who preferred nagging you all the time. Be aware that even your few friends can melt into toxic friends according to the Lucifer effect. If you don't know what The Lucifer Effect is, then it is the phenomenon discovered by Phillip Zimbardo where people go from being individually moral to becoming evil, corrupt, and often brutal toward other people as a result of pressure under specific group circumstances. Overall, it would be much more beneficial to find friends who can aptly build bridges of honesty between you and them. Quote, unquote, "Honesty is the best policy." On top of that, wallowing in sadness is an act of expressing vulnerability honestly. True strength lies in confronting uncertainty, failure, and pain head-on, not alone, but with support from those who care for you.
