I’m scared for my future, I’m a freshman and last school term I got all Cs and started this term (soon to end in a few weeks) with all Fs and I don’t feel like I made any progress in school. I’ve refused to check my grades bc it takes one F for me to give up even though I know dam well there is still something I can do about it. I honestly don’t know if I want to go to college (and don’t know what to study) or if I want to do something else, and most of the careers that I want to pursue, either the industry is F-ed up or half the time you won’t get what you want out of it (or that I won’t come up with good ideas). I’m scared that I’ll just be nothing in the future and no one will remember me and that I’ll just be a homeless bum.

Coming from a sophomore whose been in that exact situation twice, just try your hardest, burnout is a net negative and the way I see it, spin it into a story about perseverance in your college essay in junior year. It’s gonna be hard but that’s how life goes sometimes. If your teachers offer extra help, take it whenever you can, it is literally a blessing and saving grace

My problem is when I get offered help I’m kinda just like “Nah I’m good,” that or I’m too scared to ask for help bc my mindset is that I should be able to do this on my own without asking for help at my age.

Asking for help is normal! It’s honestly the best way to learn and the idea that you should be able to do this on your own is kinda just bs that people made up to dismiss kids who needed help. I was literally 1 year ahead in terms of knowledge in all my classes(not anymore but point still stands) and even then, half of what I did was bs-ing assignments. High school is the equivalent of hitting a wall in terms of difficulty and everyone expects you to just cope and adapt to it, help is honestly the best way to get through it, some schools also have national honors society if you don’t want to do after school with a teacher, and the kids who do nhs are like the nicest people I’ve met, so they won’t judge, most have been in your position themselves tbh.
