This is probably a bad question to ask in this group chat but genuine question: do you guys think all homophobic people are evil? Or like, a bad person?

I'm kind of struggling rn bc my family (who are my most important ppl in the world) aren't accepting. I mean, I know they're good people. My parents are amazing, kind people. They were raised to be homophobic. It's not to the point they'd disown me or anything, but... I still wanna be their perfect child.

Not all homophobic people are bad, let that be clear. If they were raised that way, then that is not their fault, however if they truly do love you, they will eventually come around.

I think it greatly depends honestly. Some people (kind of like what you mentioned) were raised that way and thus they're very ignorant about the LGBTQIA+ community. Since they have these pre-conceived notions and nobody to tell them otherwise, they just manifest that into judgement and perhaps hatred. I don't think those people are bad people or evil, i just think they need help understanding. When it comes to people who are genuinely just so hateful and wish terrible things upon gay people (and everyone else in the community), and they literally have decided that gay/trans people aren't human beings and stuff like that, I'd say those people are bad people. But I also think bad people are capable of changing, so it's honestly super specific to the person. I hope that in your case, your parents are open to widening their perspective and changing their world view, and I hope they come to accept you as you are. Either way, don't forget that you are worthy of love and nobody can tell you otherwise <3
