Ok so basically theres this girl on my bus ( lets call her Jane) who is having suicidal thoughts, and she told me this this morning through a letter that said she really cared about me like a brother and that she wouldn’t last much longer. I was really worried and told one of the counselors at our school, and Jane was picked up early by her parents. Did i do the right thing by telling the counselors?

yes! it's most important to make sure that she is safe, so telling school counselors is really all you could have done in that situation. you did the right thing, even if that might be hard to see if/when she gets upset that you told someone about it. her being upset that people/adults found out is a more desirable outcome than her being gone because nobody knew. given the information you were given i'd say that you did the best thing you could've done (and this is speaking from experience as someone who was reported to my school for a similar issue as hers, in time i realized that the person who reported me was doing what she needed to in order to be a good friend). SORRY THAT WAS TOO MUCH DETAILS but yes you did the right thing :))
Okay, thank you so much, i just really hope that she holds on for a long time because i’ve lost someone else close to me to suicide this year, and i really dont want me or her family to go through that pain.
i'm sorry to hear that you already lost someone to suicide 🫂 i hope she gets the help she needs to recover and stay with us as long as possible :)

Always (try to) save people from this, even if its just by letting people know youre there for them, someone helped me from the thought of ending myself with just talking and listening via Discord
