Hi, i had two questions about hormone pills, im really new to all this so any responses would be great! Im genderfluid and currently i use a chest binder, i know testosterone pills are for trans men and cismen but am i able to use these pills if im genderfluid and feel more masculine than feminine? i also do go by transmasc but im not sure if i should use the pills if they arent meant for me… i know this is a stupid question but it’s a question i needed to ask.

another question i have is how do i obtain testosterone pills if i can use them? im currently 18 and live in the us so i severely doubt I can buy testosterone pills now. i know u have to get a prescription for them but im not entirely sure where exactly to get a prescription from. do i need to go to a specialist? or is there a place i can go to that does prescriptions? i tried looking it up but the answers i got just made me even more confused lmao. i mostly want the pills to make my voice deeper honestly, but im not sure if that’s a valid reason to get these pills because i know other people really need these pills. if there’s another alternative for getting a deeper voice then i would gladly accept that instead of the pills.

one more question… sorry for asking so many. the last thing is about top surgery. it’s the same thing as the hormones question. what is the process of being able to get the surgery? do i need to go to a specialist or like i said earlier, is there a specific place i can go to that can help me with the process? top surgery is something i really want since sometimes even wearing a binder doesn’t help with my gender dysphoria.

any responses to any of these questions would really help me so much! if you have any websites that you recommend that can help me or any places that can help me, please let me know!

so sorry for making this so long… i just really need the answers to these questions!

Hi! so I kinda skipped over a little bit of the post, so if i miss a question it's probably because of that BUT

you can use HRT for whatever reason if it's gender affirming and makes you happy! the only problem will be doctors...

I don't exactly know how things work in the US but from experience from trans friends living in the us you have to go to a specialist, a psychiatrist and maybe even a therapist to even diagnose you with gender dysphoria (i heard transgender was a literal diagnosis, too, but i'm not actually sure if that's still up-to-date..) then of course you need an endocronologist (idk how to spell that but it's a specialist for hormones) to get your levels checked and possible intersex markers ruled out (where i live intersex ppl can't go on HRT 💔 dunno if it's the same in the US tho)

about the top surgery, there's usually clinics that specialise in it, but (again) you probably need "proof" of being trans or having impacting gender dysphoria (and most likely a referral/indication slip, for the hormones, too) (but then again it always depends on the doctors you go to)

there's probably gender clinics that can help you out, i know that planned parenthood for example also offers gender affirming care (as far as i'm aware, i'm not sure if every location does but it's just an example tbh)

also i gotta say, it's very likely that you would have to lie on your assessments (if they do them) regarding your transness to even have a chance of referral or "diagnosis"... (speaking from experience) (it's really shitty, but it also depends on the doctor, once again, don't let it demotivate you!)

there's many different types of doctors/clinics you need to go to, but i think a start would be trying to find a transfriendly gp that can give you a sense of direction (if that's a possibility)
