hi, i'm theteapot, but tea and teapot are ok too

and i'm transfem and lesbiab, i've come out to some irl and online friends, started using she/they with them, and a fem name, but idk how to come out to my family, other friends, and at school

my parents have been chill, my mom has said she will support me no matter what and has no problems with me reading books that have queer main characters, i have rainbow stickers on my water bottles, and it's all good, so i don't think they would react badly, but an irl friend talked about how their parents are pretty woke but as soon as they came out it turned into a shitshow because their parents are transphobic, and i'm worried that's gonna happen, even though they have been pretty chill with queer stuff, i think

It’s amazing that you’ve come out to friends and started using your name and pronouns—that’s a huge step and really brave.

It’s totally valid to feel nervous, even if your parents seem chill. What your mom’s said and how she supports queer stuff are good signs, though. Maybe try starting with her in a low-pressure way, like:

“I’ve been figuring things out, and I’m transfem and go by she/they now.”

Take it at your pace you’re doing great, and you’re not alone.
