pointers that they're safe to come out to are:
being okay for you to dress how you want
not scowling at gay people
not pointing at rainbow flags and whispering stuff
other tips to see if they're homophobic:
start a conversation about an openly lgbtqia+ celebrity and if they don't know them mention that said celebrity is queer and see how they react
make up a fake friend and talk about them and casually mention that they're gay if they're grossed out or say something then they're probably homophobic
idk tho don't just blindly believe what I say
I only say what I wish I've done because I do things without thinking and find very obvious solutions after
