so my dad is the type of person to just say okay and move on with his life, and when i thought i was non binary, he said okay i'll respect that, and never respects it, makes fun of it, and will constantly shove in my face how i will always be afab. i'm genderfluid and aroace spec and my dad will never understand

let me start off by saying that i dont mean to say this is your fault at all, but it really sounds like theres just a boundary issue here. if hes okay with it and intends to respect it then the jokes are just a misunderstanding. it's the concept of impact vs intent. he might be trying to make you feel like it's nothing to worry about, but the real effect is that it comes off like he doesn't care and is making your identity out to be something that is less of a deal than you see it as yourself.

so to summarize, try to just talk with him about it, im sure he doesnt intend to come off the way he does and will apologize when he realizes how he makes you feel
