Why do I keep messing up chances at relationships

I keep ruining my chances at relationships, this cute guy said he liked me and we both kept calling each other cute and ofcourse I was too energetic and stupid that I kept going to the point I made him uncomfortable. All I wanted was to show that I liked him but I came off too strong and make him unlike me instead
I hate being like this, why can't I just be a normal person and actually keep someone
