- Fixed issues regarding the hidden taskbar (this should work now)
- Lets you unequip an item by clicking on it again (in your inventory)

- Added scaling (snapping is a bit broken right now with scaling, just disable it for now, will test this next week)

- added a tray icon so you can reset a few things more easily (scale, position)
- You can disable the always on top setting in the tray icon
- Made the more pretty on higher scalings
- Closing the settings when you close the inventory
- fixed an issue that if you scale your bongo cat the taskbar snapping doesn't work anymore
Known issue:
If your keyboard language doesn't match your actual language the tray icon can't initialize, i try to fix this asap, this is one of the whut bugs 😄
I'm currently also testing game controller support, takes a bit longer than i anticipated 😦 sorry on that front

Finally fixed the transparency issue (to everyone having a black background and not a transparent one):
- right click the system tray icon -> click on "Transparency Fix"

- Print button does no longer create a tap (so you can create some beautiful screenshots of your cats)
- Adds a setting to hide the chest notification popup

Steam Next Fest Demo Update
Steam Next Fest will start tomorrow and Bongo Cat will be a part of it!
The game is close to launch so one final push for the demo 🙂
Quick patch notes:
- Adds exchanges (10 items of the same rarity can be upgraded to one of a higher tier)
- Your cat can't escape your screen anymore! If you move it out of bounds it will auto reset itself 🙂
- Adds cat skins
- Adds over 50 new items
- Increase the drop timer to 30min (sorry, but i need to do that to hopefully fix the red cross)
- Adds some info regarding F-Keys to the settings screen
- Adds the "game mode" which will make the cat non interactable until a chest drops
- Adds new and equipped (highlighting the item currently equipped and which items are new in the inventory, sorry for the initial click fest 😄 )
- Adds backup save games, this should auto restore your progress if it fails to load the current one
- Many more bug fixes

Ok did some changes (going to sleep now because i'm really tired 😄 and hopefully there is no need to roll anything back tomorrow morning haha)
- Adds the option to auto hide the counter and only show it when hovering
- Fixes an issue with fullscreen games when the cursor is not displayed, the cat is now noninteractable (enjoy your CS2)

Small update (probably one of the last ones before the release):
- Updated some hat images (to fit better and be less choppy)
- Hides the timer when a hat gets selected (and no chest is ready)
- Changed the way "taps" are handled (it uses now steam stats) so you should be fine in the future regarding save game issues and similar things and you have a lot more taps probably (just a one time upgrade 😛 )

What does this mean?
- It is time to get the full game for free!
- You will lose all your demo items, but get two exclusive legendary hats for playing the demo (if you have 30mins of playtime in the demo). I have to do this unfortunately because Steam doesn't allow me to transfer the items between the demo and the full game.
- Items are now tradeable on the Steam marketplace and between you and your friends!
- Language support for 25 languages (Help us improve them on the localizor page some still need to be translated or are still Google translated)
- I also added coffee supporter items. Buying me a coffee helps me to stay awake and add even more hats and features! 😄
- There are achievements! (and more to come!)
- More skins!!! (also multiple color variants) and a few more hats 🙂
- You can now mark your favorite hats (click the star in the corner of an item)
- For those who like to type, you can now ignore mouse clicks
- I removed the tray icon (i hope i can bring it back soon) because some people had issues with this, sorry!

I need your opinion:
i'm thinking about adding a force admin mode into the game
this would resolve the issue that the counter doesn't work in games like Genshin Impact and other Hoyoverse games (and other games that run in admin mode).
This would cause you to get the "Run this in admin mode?" popup every time you start the game.
now i need some hive mind here, what do you like the most:
1️⃣ force the admin mode to always be on, don't start the game without (super easy, players don't have to do anything)
2️⃣ Toggle in the settings menu but opt-out (so first time you start it's enabled and starts in admin mode)
3️⃣ Toggle in the settings but opt-in so once you toggle it, the game will restart else it's running without admin mode

Over 150.000 people played the game already, that is INSANE!!!
I now gathered multiple issues and changed a few things:
- Fixes a bug that screen boundaries are ignored and your mouse could move to another screen
- Fixes that your game tabs out if you hover over the cat in a fullscreen game
- Adds the "Admin Mode" you need to opt-in this will make Bongo Cat start as admin, which solves a lot of issues regarding clicks not getting tracked in several games!
- Adds a quit button, yeah i know, long overdue, but why would you quit Bongo Cat
And now to one of the more controversial changes: i just removed trading between two users (NOT THE MARKET, THIS STILL WORKS). I noticed bot accounts farming thousands of items and by moving the items to one single account and then selling a ton of them in bulk. To prevent this i now removed trading between two users this will make their lifes harder (i hope).
A small list of things i want to add soon:
- Controller support is still WIP, it's way harder than i anticipated so please stay tuned ❤️
- Sounds (but opt-in)
- New items
- Fixing the annoying red cross, i finally know the reason: the moment Steam detects you as "away" it will mess with the item drops...already talking to them to see if this can be fixed and how 🙂
And regarding the special demo items (if you are eligable you can still do this for a few more days, then the demo will become unavailable, so be quick!):

Regarding the special demo items, here is how to claim them: (if you have more than 30min playtime in the demo)
- Close Bongo Cat
- Restart Steam
- Reinstall the demo (the small "Download Demo" button on main store page on the right)
- Start the Demo (it should auto close itself)
- Start the full game
this will be possible for a week or so, afterwards the demo will be fully removed

- Adds option to disable the bobbing animation
- Removes scales that are not applyable
- Shows timer in the beginning longer

- Revert controller changes (should now work again consistently)

- Should fix the red cross now (finally), this can cause random drops sometimes (if your timer desynced with the Steam timer), so enjoy them ❤️

there right click the BongoCat.exe -> properties -> go to the compatibility tab -> uncheck the "run as administrator" checkbox, hit apply

Because i needed to do an emergency update earlier this morning, here are some patch notes:
- Adds an option to disable the "-1000" number when you open a chest
- Adds an option to only randomize your cat based on the favorites you set yourself

It's me a again, with some new **permanent added **stuff:

We have added over 100 new emojis to the item pool! Now you can communicate with your friends by spamming their screens with emojis!

You can find your emojis in the bottom of your cosmetics tab! And you can use them by hovering a bit over your Bongo Cat in a multiplayer lobby.

It was a bit messy, sorry on that. A few demos went offline and the granting was inconsitent with the Steam servers.

We will now run a limited event to celebrate Winter and Christmas for the next 4 weeks (until the <t:1767175200:D>).
During this time you can drop 20 exclusive winter items! For this event, I moved many items to lower rarity tiers so that you will see a wider variety of items! I'm still not entirely satisfied with this solution, but it's only a temporary measure while I think about future events.

To get you in the Christmas spirit, we've added a free Advent calendar. From December 1st to December 25th, you can open a door every day (at 8am GMT) to get your hands on an exclusive item!

It's crazy, if someone had asked me what my year would look like, I would never have imagined something like this happening. At the beginning of the year, I asked Lars (my co-founder and the person who did all the UI <3) if we could organize a charity event for the Steam Animal Fest, and we immediately agreed. So I chose our local animal shelter in Munich and decided to contact them.
They were very cooperative and introduced us to their difficult cases, for which it is not so easy to find a new home.
Flores and I then decided on all the cats you see now and may also have as skins. A big thank you to everyone who contributed! It was a total of 14.126€ and we topped it up to make a sweet round number ❤️ THANK YOUUU
We decided to visit the cats this Monday. Look at Bobby!!!! HE IS SO CUTE!! Thanks to all of you, he will have a blessed life at their shelter until he finds a new home ❤️

Hey, i just removed the 5 million achievement, i respect you all (and your time), sorry for it!
There was a bit of backlash regarding it that's why i removed it.
i moved the golden skin + crown to the 1M one. No more achievements in the future, i promise. ❤️
i might add ingame achievements (that are not attached to Steam) so you can still get a small reward for it ❤️

Steam Error
Hi everyone, small update on this, so i investigated a bit with a few who reached out (thank you again btw)
Currently the Steam API returns me a lot of "failed" results (you can see that in your logs). But the items still drop/exchanges still go through.
If you see the steam error popup, this is just me telling you "hey something with the steam api call failed" just close it for now and ignore it.
To check if you actually dropped an item, go to your Steam inventory -> Inventory History
there you can see if it actually dropped or if your exchange went through.
I'm guessing the servers are just at heavy load because of Next Fest, but not sure exactly. And because it's a weekend, i'm guessing that i don't get a repsonse soon from the steam support, so hang in tight ❤️

It's hard to put it all into words...thanks to every single one of you that played the game, shared it with their friends, supported the shelter cats or talked about it. It's insane. 5.8 million players downloaded Bongo Cat and gave it a try. I could never imagine reaching so many players and bringing them joy. Thank YOU ❤️
I have some cool stuff planned for this year (Steam Point Shop, April Fools 👀, The Collection Update and much more). But it takes time and i'm also looking for another person that can help me out in creating all of that. I also want to move away from just pushing you updates and want to include you even more in the future development. I will be more active on Discord in creating polls that help us decide what features we want to push next :). I know not everyone is on Discord, but it's the easiest and most accessible way for me, i hope you understand.
Achievements
The first thing i wanted to vote on was: Achievements. Something that i really like in games and something i now know, a lot of you like as well and want to see more of. 80% voted in favor of adding more achievements. So here you go, happy 1 year anniversary, happy bongoing! ❤️
Not all achievements will give you new cosmetics, but the new tap amount ones will. Flores created some amazing new skins and hats for them:
Note: The items might take a bit until they appear in your inventory. I still see a lot of Steam API failures. Valve told me they are already looking into it, so stay tuned and patient please ❤️

No new supporter items, but i wanted to say thank you to all of you that buy the items to support the ongoing development. I'm very thankful to all of you ❤️
You don't need to buy anything, but every bit helps us to continue even further, thank you!

One amazing person from Valve answered me and they are working on it, but in the meantime i changed how often promo items (f.e. achievement items) check their drop condition. This might help with server load. Fingers crossed!

Regional Pricing
I found a way to "enable" (aka me creating all the prices haha) regional pricing for all the items in the supporter shop:
Supporter Shop
This means you should either see the same price (for EUR/USD) or a significant decrease in price for some regions. This is something we already do with our own games but never found a way to do for the item shop in Steam. Now i found a possible solution.
Experimental Mac Support
I know a lot of you want to play with your friends (that are on Mac). With this update we will launch an experimental mac build that you can try out. Iris did some amazing work here, so thanks for her help ❤️ !
Patch Notes
Additionally Iris got some nice quality of life changes in the game:
- You can ROTATE your cat!! (with R while focused or in the settings)
- Slider to change how many items per row get displayed (we will add an option to disable this slider with the next update)
- Event collections without any item in it will be hidden from now on, to reduce the amount of items displayed in the collection tab

we deploeyed a potential fix for some of the issues:
- lobbies stuck
- min player amount requirement set to 10 (to start the Battle Royale mode)
- all players participating get the bloddy skin (screw them cheaters)
- join random now joins the lobby with the MOST players in them (get ready for 250 player lobbies)

If you are in a lobby where the timer doesn't decrease: try to find a new one, this lobby might be bugged from the older version

Hi everyone, so the Bongo Royale event concluded and i want to get your feedback on it!
First things first: The mode is now disabled again (so update the game) and the Blood Splatter Skin will be granted to everyone for the next 2 days (as a small sorry how bugged it was).
I know it was a mess (regarding lobbies stopped working etc), sorry for that, i think i know what happened but we couldn't test it ourselves.
No matter what, this was a small test for me how people perceive such "multiplayer game modes" as an OPTIONAL thing. I know it was forced on you, but we wanted to test it with everyone and i thought april fools was a great time to do that.
Do you want to see other "game modes" that you can select and enable in a lobby in the future? What type of game modes would you like to see?
