Since I was having errors and no action with some model selections it is really disconcerting. How can I be sure which model is in use?

If I try to use Gemini the model selection says Auto and there is an error saying I cannot use the selected model. This error state is sticky, now it stays broken even if I go back to Claude in settings.

The broken state seems to be related to reporting "auto" just underneath where I type a new query.
