Yeah. WoW wouldn't have lasted 15 years if it was a bad game.
Every 2 years or so, Blizzard releases an expansion pack that effectively sets everyone back to square 1, so you'll never really be that far behind.
With the prepatch coming out on the 13th, the levelling experience will be streamlined and made a lot easier to understand... And you won't hop senselessly through expansion storylines.
WoW is at its heart a multiplayer game, but I know many people that enjoy it as a single-player experience.
You can always try out WoW for free to get a feel for it.
It's free to play for the first few levels, but you won't have the ability to really interact with other players.
