I meant that you can have the option to change an existing character with engineering into tinker. It's not a grind to max level. If you're an engineer, you could get a quest line or whatever and unlock tinker for that character
As an engineer, you could also built and upgrade your mech suit and weapons

what I don't predict but what's pretty far up in my wishlist is that they axpand on the "player choice"-element they itnroduced. Not the one where your choice changes stuff (like the ships name that now doesn#t have one in lore), but the loyalist/rebel type deal in 8.2.5 where oyu saw different sides to the story and played a different role within depending on your characters choices
