I disagree: the story telling is bad, in my opinion, basically because it does not lead anywhere. They seem to be putting a lot of effort in placing these important details in the story and not capitalizing on them.
Take Il'gynoth ridles, for example: how many of those are still unresolved? From what i am aware of its a majority. And they add more of those next patch. I wish they start to be answered already in-game, otherwise it is just a waste and disappointment. Why add them if you would not use them? Especially when they seem to be directly tied to current events.
This vagueness is really frustrating, and if they clear a thing or two, they do that in the least exciting way imaginable.

I'll copy over some of my thoughts cause I wrote them a bit more substantial there
"I think the lore is (for blizzards standards) in a pretty okay place, actually. Their delivery obviously got a good bit better over time. (Like, the technical storytelling). The stuff around legion wrapped up a bunch of stuff somewhat neatly (especially the chronicles) and I think its for the better that the scale of the setting reverted a bit from cosmic time-travel stuff towards more handleable intra-azeroth points.
I actually like that they are willing to evolve the status quo in some ways (making cities inaccesible, having the horde leave behind the warchief-system).
The best thing that came out of this lorewise is the possibility for players to make decisions for their characters that influence what you see of the story and what role you play within it and I hope we will see more of that in the future. (Also Raids that are different by faction)
On the negative side: I heavily dislike the way the player character is treated as a "main character"/protagonist since WoD, it destroys the illusion of being part of a living world with other people inhabiting it with you. I think the zone-specific writing is weaker in BfA then in most other AddOns. Like, compare Suramar and Vol'dun or something, its kinda weak on average."
The other problem I have with BfA lore and "Player character is protagonist"-writing is that it makes your character very shizophrenic.
(a) being the Champion of your faction, leading the war effort, collecting azerite in their name and propagating the battle against the other faction on the frontline, being absolutely trusted by your faction leadership to be loyal to their side
AND BEING
(b) The champion of Azeroth, fighting for the sake of all, promoting peace and being the most trusted person to the speaker who abhors said war and tries to end it while stressing that mining azerite hurts the planet you want to heal.
AT THE FUCKING SAMRE TIME?! C'MON!
I mean, imagine if you had to decide:
Will you EITHER be the champion that stands with his faction, fighting the war to protect yours and defeat the other (getting a war campaign and quests for that etc.) OR are you the champion of azeroth, eschewing the war and fighting for the rgeater good, against both factions and to stop the war (and getting quests to that end)?
That would be player choice I could approve of.

I do not like the PC as Champion at all. I would prefer us being Soldiers/Mercenaries/Adventurers helping established Lore characters when needed, but otherwise doing daily business as usual. It would make way more sense than us being all-capable all-might heroes of the worlds.

One thing is i am growing to dislike is that they gave Doomhammers and Ashbringers to everyone. Sure it is business, but i would have made more sense if they handled that in a more Frostmourne->Shadowmourne way. The problem I see is: WoW treats its story nowadays like the story of a single-player game with the player character being the main character.
And that doesn't mesh well with one of the core strength of an MMO, namely that you are part of a living world with others, not just yourself.
While, to be honest, if you want to play the main character of a given story, there are just so many, many other games out there that do it better by actually being single-player games and having the freedoms associated with that.

About story vs. world: another option could be to have a sort of EVE Online setup: have a world with not a huge amount of story provided by the game, just some light story and perhals repeatable events. Have NPC "empires" (areas) in the middle, and player-run "empires" in the wildlands. Players make their own stories. If you're the leader of one of those player-run "empires" you are the actual leader of that. But that means not everyone gets to be the "hero".

ok - new idea about how the dagger is exactly what nzoth wants
We blast nzoth with azerite "weaking" him. We then seal him in the dagger. Magni and MOTHER then take the dagger and protect it within the chamber of the heart. During the next expansion, their minds are warped by the whispers, and they are tricked into releasing nzoth and freeing him within the chamber of the heart or something
obviously the 2nd half is very much future conjecture
but assuming the dagger thing is true, we are probably putting nzoth in exactly the situation he wants

It does kill Old Gods, that was the entire point of it, but everything else on the planet as well. The entire point of 8.3 is to modify it so that it only hits the Old God and not the entire planet. And then we try to power it by connecting another facility to it, and we plant anchors in Ny'alotha to focus the beam although it's not perfect.

Yes, it does, that was literally the entire point of the Forge of Origination, to reset the whole planet, in case the Old Gods are freed or go too far. There's no point in re-originating if the Old Gods are still there and can just re-corrupt everyone.

We modify the Forge of Origination so that it doesn't eradicate all life, we just focus the beam on N'Zoth. Not sure what happens after we beam him though, the In-game Cutscene is called "Death of N'Zoth" and the broadcast text says he is defeated, so that is probably the end of him, unless there's something more after the cutscene.

Yes. The whole origination process would be totally useless if it didn't kill the Old Gods, they would just re-corrupt the planet again after it's been re-originated.
That's the whole point of the Forge of Origination: it eradicates everything, Old Gods included. The titans didn't want to use it obviously otherwise they would'v destroyed all life.
