Some claim that it's too "robot" to be the Heratage set, which is why I showed the pics of the non mechagonized junker
The set is missing chest and "leg" textures, as well as any further modifications to the hands or feet. It's unclear if the helmet will be the fully transformed one you see here, or another we haven't seen in game
I'm suspecting that this will be available in 3 tints, one available for each level of rust.
Currently Junkergnomes will be the most developed allied race, with their own mounts, both flying and ground, their own custom hearthstone, multiple weapons, and of course their mechanical animal friends.
It seems the most likely mount for them will be the currently not in game, pristine "one wheel" as the rusted, pristine, and gold versions of each mount are available except for the one wheel.
They also seem to already have a Heratage hunter pet, which is a gold mechanowolf.

The other unobtainable mechanowolf may be a challenge tame of the dungeon boss, set for later patches. It's a rusted mechanowolf.
Of course nothing has been announced yet, but the evidence is quite clear. Junker Gnome females also already have a special dance emote, rather than reusing the gnome dance emote.

Damn I'm getting roasted 😂 here's a bit of a rebuttal. Sorry if it wasn't clear but that was speculation and just kinda showing the hints blizzcon has thrown at us. Mechagnomes have more customization combinations than any released allied race. I used a lot of future tense, like "will be" and "of course nothing as been announced yet".
This is kinda my return post as well. Months ago certain people in this channel denied Jinker Gnomes would even exist. But that's obviously wrong. If they really are going to be only an NPC race, they will be the most developed in NPC history, let alone playable character history. I never claimed I worked for blizzard, I never claimed this was a "leak" I'm just posting the in game evidence that may not be obvious to all.
As for the armor restrictions, yes that's a big issue with them being an AR. But it kinda makes me think that this is why they removed the restrictions in 8.2 for chest, hands shoulders, etc. As for the "this applies to other NPC races too" no... It really doesn't. Sethrak specifically mentioned, can only wear capes atm. They also don't have custom dances unlike female Junker Gnomes. I strongly believe Vulpera will release with Junkergnomes, however they're not as nearly as in depth as junker gnomes. I also believe the NPC Vulpera armor may be their Heratage set. However, Mechagnomes armor although not tied to an6 items currently, is made of parts that could easily be applied to a player race. A helmet, belt, shoulders, and 2 3d chest plates on the front and back.
Furthermore, blizzard has stated that one of the reasons blizzard added Classic Race Heratage sets was to keep players from race changing to allied races. Meaning Gnome Heratage armor insinuates that Gnomes will get an allied race counterpart eventually.
