The Drust, are the original inhabitants of Kul Tiras/Drustvar who were all killed by the humans. In a last ditch attempt, Gorak Tul their leader raised all of their souls in constructs to fight again.

Just chiming in the middle of the conversation. I totally get it might appeal to (some) people, but personally I wouldn't like it. I think the world is more interesting when.. not every single thing is explained by magic. It's best when magic is used for stuff that is supposed to be mysterious or that can't be explained otherwise (people disappearing and never coming back, like on Fate's End), or for stuff that really needs it (resurrection, healing, teleports..).

This is not one of those cases, this is just a case of Kul Tiras having had a bigger budget to use compared to Stormwind which is 1 capital and Gilneas which is 1 (starting) zone, by being a full-fledged continent. This means that, like most other "focus races" (the race(s) that is (are) the focus of an expansion get more customization - like all the other kinds of orcs, and orc models (pale orc, brown orc, dire orc..) and orc armor in WoD, or the man'ari in Legion (man'ari, winged man'ari, man'ari brute..) - Tirasian got to have, besides "normal" humans, also thin humans and fat humans, for variety. They literally said it was for variety and to give more diversity to Kul Tiras and its people. So why go for the interbreeding or magic explanation when there's a perfectly logical and reasonable one here ? Hell, Earth too has thin, "normal" and fat people.

(There's also the fact that fat humans are not technically unique to Kul Tiras, can also find them in Hillsbrad and a few other peoples, and they aren't explained by magic either. Hell, the captains in Warcraft 3 technically look just like those fat humans. It's really not something unique. We don't need a theory for thin humans that maybe they bred with gnomes either !)

Why do we need an explanation for some humans being just chubbier and taller ? It boils down to this, essentially. It's unnecessary. Humans come in all shapes and size, I don't see why we need a super theory to explain (just) one of these shapes. How come we don't need one for some humans being immensely thin ? Maybe the thin humans interbred with gnomes ? See, it becomes a bit silly if we go that way. If it was something super mysterious, sure.. but this is all just because some guys are chubbier/taller. 😛

And it's also completely ignoring the fact that they literally debunked the idea. They spent so much time at BlizzCon talking about how Tirasian are bulky and strong because they went for a seafarer and rough "monster hunter" vibe. They explicitly, directly stated that Tirasian got thin, normal and fat models for variety and diversity.

as far as Im aware that is. The Old darkfallen models we see in wrath and the ones now use the same model, (the ones in ICC mind you) as they're just the DK skin for belves. The princes are based off of their own unique model which got altered to not be a stock model for us to fight. Which is to just take one of the other three that existed and toss it at us a second time
