As I’ve said, that sounds like an upbeat victory that should make players excited to continue the battle in the warfront, but the events beforehand show the opposite. All that happened before was that Tyrande spared a bunch of Forsaken, then was accidentally portrayed as being less powerful than a regular worgen despite receiving godlike power. Just as the Horde succeeded in all their main goals despite saying it was a loss, the Alliance failed at all their main goals while saying it was a victory. If Blizzard wanted the story to be the Horde continues to press the advantage in Darkshore while Tyrande attempts to get vengeance only to fail, this would be fine. The problem is you can see that’s not what the writers believe they are saying.```

Idea one: Instead of Tyrande appearing to barely hold her own against Nathanos, show her getting the upper hand. She’s winning, using scary Night Warrior powers and stuff (rather than just casting Starfall over and over with no visible effect). A good way to show this would be, instead of having them fight in the background, have the player fight Nathanos with her so we can see his health going down. Then when it seems clear he can’t hold out much longer, the ritual is completed and one val’kry spirits Nathanos, the Horde player, Delaryn and Sira to safety while the other val’kyr stays behind to hold off Tyrande and ultimately gets killed by her. Same outcome, but more in line with what the dialogue is telling us.

And to conclude this whole dissection, idea three: The easiest to implement, just have the story intentionally be that the Horde continues to have the upper hand in Darkshore and that Tyrande’s Night Warrior plan was a failure. Cut all of the lines about the Night Warrior ritual granting you godlike powers and make it more of a symbolic transformation. Change the end dialogue from the upbeat “now the war really beings” to a grim determination “well we didn’t accomplish much, but we’re still alive and we won’t stop fighting.” On the Horde side just have Nathanos boast about how with the small army of night elf Forsaken they’ve raised, Darkshore is as good as theirs once they just finish off the last of the kaldorei forces in the warfront.

Blizzard have gone overboard with giving characters plot armor, the fact fricking belmont couldn't have died is proof of that. Sure I enjoyed questing with him just as much as any other undead player, but he isn't the least bit important and would at least be a notable figure to die. If blizzard wasn't so afraid to kill faction heroes in an expansion about faction war i feel like the writing wouldn't suffer as much. If they do kill a faction hero though they have to kill one from the other faction or else you have cry babies screaming horde/alliance favoritism and then that just leads to good characters dying too early (like alliance leader having to die last expansion leads to blizz having to kill off horde leader). They don't even have the nerve to kill off that stupid gnome leader in next raid instead he just gets frozen and can't be unfrozen....it's like ffs. BFA story wise is going to fail in my opinion unless they actually start taking the faction war seriously and actually give us some consequential deaths. not just deaths of random people you made up just to die. by all means we should have more dead faction heroes now than we did in legion. In my opinion Malfurion should have died by now this expansion, having him maybe witness the ritual and die as a result would be much more interesting of a development for Tyrande, maybe she's stop being so goody goody and actually start killing the undeads with out mercy. But it wont' happen now, Warcraft is going to bank on the same characters for the rest of it's existence, at this point I wouldn't be surprised if Arthas comes back some how.

Belmont is being kept to serve as a commander I believe. He's not really the issue, Tyrande could perfectly kill all the other Forsaken (to fit with her 'kill them all' and 'no mercy' lines) and 'freeze' Belmont (to fit her 'he needs a slow death' line), 2 strikes 1 stone.

But as it stands she says kill them all and then proceeds to kill none of them, instead freezing everyone.

Draenei are exactly Eredar, the original look. The only Eredar who changed appearance are Man'ari : they can have wings or be wingless, have red or blue / dark skin, have green eyes or not, have pointed teeth or not, etc. Two extreme examples of Man'ari looks are Archimonde and Velen : Archimonde looks just like a normal Eredar, no different than your Draenei except for his green fel eyes, while Kil'jaeden has the whole kit with red skin, pointed teeth, demonic spikes, wings, etc.

So something I'm curious about is the state of our character in comparison to the Azerite miners
people mine azerite and we get world quests to go wipe them out for it
and yet both factions are out sucking up the stuff wherever they can and we go on IEs to help them do it
seems kind of conflicting

Perhaps more so for Horde with how pro azerite the goblins have been
