I understand your sentiment, I almost agree, but most players are not profecient at the game. Meters can help figure out where they're fucking up and imprpve. Sadly it also helps people kick wantonly.

Yeah it wouldn't be a problem if blizzard taught players how to dps or how to heal.

But the issue is that a LOT of players have no idea what they're doing, and many raids and dungeons do have DPS checks. It's in the games core design.

You need to have x amount of DPS to do many fights, either to pass a soft enrage, or to kill the boss before the healer goes oom.

Higher DPS makes the healers job easier.

Or even possible in some cases.

I didn't know how to properly play Arms for Legion. I learned by just leveling up arms from 1-110.

Not everyone learns that way, but that is the intended way to learn the classes. By leveling.

Or they could make an okay tutorial scenario. Similar to the mage tower, but you can do it whenever. It just runs you through the various mechanics of the game, if you don't do them, you fail. No outgearing.

It'd be optionally optimally, but it'd be fucking something. I could tell people to go do that instead of writing a paragraph about how I have finite Mana and HPS and the less they interrupt the more likely we are to wipe, and the more I need to drink.

anyways. As for our discussion: Pugs will never learn on their own. If they do, they end up just going to a guild or finding friends who know what they're doing. I suggest the same for when you hit live because braindeads will always exist. blizzard can hold their hand and they'd still ignore it. I'd rather them push that time into making a tutorial into just making new content.

You could reuse the mage tower, like the actual tower. Add a portal to it. Then treat it's scaling like any other dungeons. Then throw already made bosses or enemies in there and tweak their numbers a bit to make it mandatory to do mechanics.

That's like, nothing. All of those systems already exist, scaling exists, giving monsters damage buffs exist, the mage tower exists along with it's infastructure to support a structured encounter with NPCs. Also the portal, which requires two sets of coordinates...

That's really not a lot. Like at all. And I mean they'd be basic too, like interrupt or die, don't stand in fire or die, etc. just very basic examples of mechanics and how to counter them.

Uh, well timewalking is on beta. But one of the dungeons is broken, so that's a roulette. Heroics are a cluster fuck, especially if people don't interrupt or the tank decides to pull four packs and never pop a defensive. Island expiditions are even worse, since it's three random people, and you basically need a healer right now. I've also had people stop collecting azerite when we are close to our goal. Like 500 azerite off, and they just sorta wander around.
Oh and the battle for stormgrade was okay, but I was one of three healers, and well I went oom a lot and has to watch tons of people die as they run into the darn patrols for no reason.

Not to mention that finding level 110 water on the beta was legit challenging when I start playing. Like there were three or four vendors with it. Thankfully I found the turtles who sell rad food/water, though. And they've since remidied that, thankfully, but I don't give a fuck anymore I got scrolls to eat.

Pets such as the robotic chicken, Mechanical Gorilla, and others will be high traffic tomorrow. Also, on the Note of the Mechamical gorilla, Currently you are able to dps em' down and tame him easily. The stat squish may cause issues tomorrow.

Beast Masters! Make sure you tame any pet you want two of Today (damn I wish i didn't throw away that extra spirit gryphon.) Challenge pets do have long cooldowns, such as the blue Mechanical dog, and the Various Mechanical rares.
