It largely depends what role you want to play.
Some races have active/passive racial perks that benefit classes/specs.
In some respects, one of the best/easiest classes to play as a newbie would be hunter.

i always recommend new players play a druid or a paladin
druids and paladins can do each of the 3 main roles, tank, dps and healing
druids can actually do both melee and ranged dps aswell, so if you arent sure which spec you want to play, a druid can literally do them all
