Xbox Live Gold has always included free games post June of 2013.

PlayStation Plus also does the same thing.

Xbox Live offers Game Pass, which is your rotating library of backwards compat and current gen games PLUS every single Xbox-exclusive title on the day of launch.

Playstation offers PlayStation Now (which if you want to be technical, isn't even their own design anyways) and you have to stream said game over your own home connection in order to play it., so you are bound by your own bandwith. You also don't get brand-new exclusive titles on the day of launch with the service either.
