I could have avoided so much confusion as a kid if I'd turned on CCs or subtitles in all my movies. I remember being confused for years at a line in Secret of Nimh where I thought they were saying "the wait will crush his bones". I didn't get it. How can waiting crush someone?

I like to have Netflix or DVDs on in the background when I'm drawing. If I'm staring at the paper too hard and miss one of the subtitles, I seriously have to rewind it so I can read what they said
I don't mind subtitled foreign movies. I only ever watch anime in Japanese with English subtitles because, well, if I were watching it in English I'd still need the subtitles on. And then I'd be more confused because the dub script and the subtitles almost never match up—subtitles will be more accurate to what they said in Japanese, and they have to take more liberties with the English dialogue so it matches up better with the timing.
And if I'm watching a DVD that doesn't have English closed captions available, I just turn on Spanish subtitles XD
My knowledge of Spanish comes back REAL fast when I'm trying to keep up with Thundercats or Stargate in Spanish lol

Inay, I think they do that with a lot of foreign movies and it drives me crazy. Like I'll be watching one of the Steve Reeves Hercules movies and most of the people's lips don't sync up, because they're dubbed, but Steve Reeves is obviously speaking English because his lips sync just fine
I guess it's possible everyone was originally speaking English, but they re-dubbed people who had really strong accents or something
