I think looking at a monitor could be problematic depending on refresh rate, because you can see the refresh line on some cameras. I'm not sure how to ensure that's not the case.

I think you'd be hard pressed to any higher without moving out of the webcam category. After that you're looking at more sophisticated cameras, likely ones that run with other inputs than USB.

Speaking as someone who's painted in 600dpi with huge brushes and exprienced the laggy slowdowns on a computer that was still 'new' 3 years ago ... I am not sure I can believe that, but alright. XD

I think you'd be happier putting the money towards making it so you can stream your art on the existing computer. Doing it through a webcam may not give you the quality you'd likely want.

To avoid the refresh issue you'll need the monitor to be a high refresh rate, or a webcam capable of filming at half the refresh rate of the monitor... if I recall correctly.

Hmm, I'm actually not sure come to think of it. I think you'd need to hook up the laptop to the - come to think of it maybe it wouldn't work at all, since I'm not sure you can hook it up to the gaming pc's monitor while it's still attached to the gaming pc and have it just pick up both screens.
