To ensure the newcomers will stay and to avoid them to feel very underpowered, cuz is a pseudo rng with skill levels, characters levels, gear and stats items

nothing really "forces" you but there's certainly some questionable nickel and dime methods
no really, I've seen people justify extremely harmful pay to win systems in a multiplayer PvP game with the "not forced to pay for things" argument. It's kind of depressing.

I mean, you earn 1 gem per day (minimum) and you use the gems for the recruits, filling your stamina bar (a run can cost 30sta while you recharge 1 each 5min), increasing your box (the box space is capped but extended by patches) and for last you can use gem to revive if you die (except particular runs)
A friend have a huge box and he never brought gems
So is a good game if you ask me

in a better designed game like PAD, it's more a skill problem.
in other games, the cash grab attempt can get very, very transparent.

if the product can be purchased, it's in the interest of the company selling the product to price it as fairly as possible to maximize the money made. In the case of digital products like store mounts, one can set the price crazily low because it's basically a revenue stream with little upkeep-based overhead to produce.
so sure, it's great there's ways to get an analogue or the identical product
but price the product appropriately for RL money if applicable.
because at that point, it's within the realm of pay to skip/pay for convenience, even though that...honestly makes no sense considering the term is supposed to apply to degrees of pay to win.

One half would prefer towards normalization and equality, which would honestly make such events a little unnecessary and borderlining on embracing the unhealthier aspects of advocacy (see: Komen and other various charities that transparently don't even use much of the money they raise on R&D). The other is interested in seeing what Jagex even tries to do with it.
Adjusting for how a good chunk of the community can behave though, and by the subreddit reaction that varies from the civil, constructive flavor of criticsm to outright bigotry (which moderators are busy cleaning up), might not be a good idea.

I use keyboards that I can easily remove the keys from and do thorugh cleanings on from time-to-time. Everyone gets hair and skin crap in their keyboard even if they don't know it.

This laptop comes with a steelseries keyboard and the keys are REALLY NICE an clicky mechanical, but it makes them stubborn to remove so that I can properly clean them

Jagex could've honestly stood to be more subtle about the whole thing or at least reworked the spirit of the message to be controversially neutral even if the actual message is partisan (yes, equality in any form is partisan - it's an ideology of the left). Insisting something that's political is not political adds petrol to the fire. Victimizing one side and demonizing the other via classic strawman is exactly what happened a few years ago and it probably reshaped the political landscape enough to cause 2016 to happen, so needless to say that's like dumping a ton of cesium into the ocean.

Idk, as much as I like hopping on the soapbox, I can at least pride myself with trying to be persuasive. This particular event will not persuade the people who need persuading even if certain Jagex staff insist otherwise. So ultimately, the issue is a case of bringing bad publicity on two ends. End one is that there are unquestioningly bigots coming out of the woodwork to express their opinions. End two is the strawman that will be built from these opinions that will then be used to shut down reasonable discussion, likely by news outlets.
And as I said, subtlety is probably important. A well-written quest line would accomplish that, reworking 7x7 of space for a holiday styled event not so much.

OKay. I am only going to say this once. Equality is not a construct of the left, it is not an ideological theory. It is a basic human right to be treated equally an fairly, just like any other 'normative' person in society.
