I think MD needs an option in gameplay settings to make it changeable how many resources buildings require for construction, similar to the health of animals and bandits, and resources used by villagers, among other things. This would make the game more challenging and engaging, rather than simply adjusting other sliders that don't affect the challenge of building and managing a village. Currently, you can start by constructing houses with superior materials, rendering walls made of sticks and roofs made of hay completely useless. Moreover, due to the ease and abundance of materials, it's too simple to build multiple buildings within a single three-day season. Implementing this change would make founding a new village more meaningful and engaging, while also introducing the challenge of resource management and future planning. It would also justify playing as subsequent generations, as the village remains small and continues to expand. Instead of having nothing to do once everything is built, people are settled in homes and workplaces, and money is not an issue.
