#Improving/upgrading storage

Place stuff. Very easy and decorative way
like this
You can't place chests inside buildings and putting them all over the place is not decorative imo let alone being efficient. Not sure if workers can't use them either.
you know that storage space is global in the material storage and food storage
like every food storage shares the space
I know. But i'm talking about extending current storage plus some visual representation and not adding another storehouse to do this.
Workers cant use those chests ever, so yes - those chests are only for player character or pure deco.
The upgrades you are referring to in OP would be with hammer (E) after the building is done, like how we currently add "proper" decos to houses.
More customisation options for the inside of buildings would be nice ๐
Exactly and this customization could add some functionality as well.
exactly, and provide something to do, which i would have thought the "old guard" would like... @celest surge plz dont just thumbs down things...explain why u disagree
On second thought it would be awesome if you had to build oven or pot by yourself. Lets say you build kitchen and you have 3 slots. One for oven, one for pot/pan and one for storage (where you can add bag +50kg or small chest +100kg). You build kitchen II you get more slots.
I like this idea alot, adding additional storage in the workstations is something ive always wanted, i build NPC unusable chests outside certain workplaces to store products
Adding additional chests to workplaces would be a fantastic QoL improvement imo
Same reason as in all other treads for this.
Not a new suggestion
find me the old suggestion plz
and link it
Visual representation of storage fullness (which is great btw) and slots for upgrades in production buildings are a bit different things ๐
Still for myself, rather ad stuff by myself
Both sadly lead to not being able to decorate by yourself anymore.
The idea of upgrade through "inbuild"/"prefab" elements is the right thing for games with a simplyfied or rudimental building system (eg like "The Witcher III" or "KCD"), but not for a building simulation like MD.
What?!?!?! Since when MD is a building simulation? You choose from premade schemes and just fill the walls. Valheim is more of a building simulation where you build from small elements and have to think about load and such.
What make you think that adding more customization would lead to not being able to decorate by yourself? Did adding decorations in homes change that? No. You can decorate even more.
You guys have some problem with normal game evolution. Good that developers don't as they already implemented some of these ideas in Sengoku Dynasty ๐ It would be great if they brought these ideas to MD.
absolutly not the same thing, no
Prefab decoration in houses are just on the walls, lying flat on the floor or hanging from the ceiling, that's nothing what blocks space like prefab chests, sacks or barrels.
In MD you can place everything whereever you like: houses, deco, roads, fields, whatever. That's what I call a building simulator.
And Valheim is voxel based - a totally different engine, so you can't compare both games. (And, btw, Sengoku Dynasty is a different game, too - made by different devs.)
Just btw again: we do have storage upgrades already (tier I to III). And I don't think, the devs will change their whole upgrade system.
Shelves are not flat and all decoration have function as they increase workers happiness.
What "space blocking"? Do chests currently block space in storehouse or shelves in homes? Adding 1-2 more crates would not change that in big, empty storehouse. Developers don't have to change their upgrade system. I just hope they continue to develop their decorating system based on slots.
Well you can't place houses wherever you like as terrain is often to steep.
Sengoku Dynasty is from different devs but from the same publisher so still i hope some good ideas can be used in both. And no it's not different, these are similar games with just different setting.
Valheim is not voxel-based it uses heightmaps.
Sorry but this suggestion is not the same as the current thread...at all
This one is asking for ADDITIONAL storage units to be placed in RS and FS ("like decorating homes") the suggestion u linked is nothing similar @carmine grove
Thanks for trying to help tho.
Absolutely dont agree with that Mike.
Atleast its close enough to the other one, it should count as "addition" to that one.
But, dont mather either, with 3 or 5 treads of the same.
I respectfully disagree Hubbish, it is clearly a different suggestion to me, "close enough" is not acceptable when one is asking for additional slots and the other is a visual representation of how full the storage is.
Claiming these are "the same" or "an addition" is not something i agree with in any way.
I stand by my initial statement, if u can provide another thread that shows this is a duplicate i will consider locking it.
Thankyou.
It would definitely be great if we could add additional chests inside storage buildings.
Wall candles would be nice, same as the ones you can decorate houses with. Those storage facilities can be pitch black at night. Yes, I know there's a hacky way of adding lanterns before the facility is fully built... but that isn't always an option for players.
the new update just added lanterns in all workplaces and storages....
