Apologies if something like this has already been suggested I have looked several times and can’t find anything, I’ve also not played the game a huge amount so this could easily already be a feature

I’m suggesting some sort of side quest where, especially in the early game when the player is not fixed to their own settlement, the player can take quests to help ai settlements in more of a long term role, at the moment I’ve only really got quests to gather a small amount of items or do 1 task. I think managing crops of cattle in another settlement or helping build another building over a longer term would be more immersive. I think this would allow newer players to gain experience on how to run their own settlement before actually doing it. I also think it by adding long term tasks in villages (such as aiding in diplomacy for others) would allow the player to play the game differently as they could become a member of an existing community and play the game differently

A few examples I think would show my point best would be:

  1. Cooking for a settlement, which could improve mood or allow the player to live in/near the settlement

  2. Delivering large quantities of items from place to place, to increase the feel of ai/ai trade

  3. Repairing or expanding on a settlement to protect against thievery or increasing population

tldr: Add long term quests that allow the player to integrate themselves into settlements and develop the community they’re in and not be forced to make their own settlement

That’s a great way to help new players learn the basic mechanics!
