You have two supported ways to get expert help and multi-voice results for a long-form book:

  • Fully managed service (Productions)

    • Order human-edited assets handled by vetted linguists/localization professionals. Productions supports single- and multi‑speaker voice casting; Audiobooks is listed as “coming soon.” You can start an order from the Productions page in your account or email productions@elevenlabs.io for specifics. Pricing is quoted up‑front. (elevenlabs.io)
  • Self-serve in Studio (with pro voices)

    • Create a new Audiobook project, import your manuscript (EPUB, PDF, DOCX, TXT, HTML/URL). Studio lets you assign different voices to sections/characters, regenerate specific passages, and export MP3 or WAV. It also includes collaboration features for feedback/review. (help.elevenlabs.io)
    • Chapters can be auto-detected when creating a new Audiobook project; you can add, rename, reorder, or remove chapters later. (help.elevenlabs.io)
    • To find high‑quality narrator/character voices, browse the Voice Library marketplace, filter by language/accent/age/etc., and add chosen voices to My Voices for use in Studio. Some voices have custom rates and notice periods. (help.elevenlabs.io)

Licensing and payouts for voices

  • Voices shared to the Voice Library are Professional Voice Clones; creators can set notice periods and custom rates, and they earn payouts when paid subscribers use their voices. Using a Library voice in your project automatically honors these terms. (help.elevenlabs.io)

Collaboration and access control

  • If you work with an external producer, you can privately share Professional Voice Clones via an allowlist link, while keeping other voices in your account private. (help.elevenlabs.io)

If you’d like ElevenLabs to pair you with experts end‑to‑end (casting, QA, delivery), start with Productions. If you prefer hands‑on control with help from a contractor, use Studio plus voices from the Voice Library. (elevenlabs.io)

Short answer

  • No, simply uploading or pasting a TXT file does not spend credits; credits are only deducted when you generate audio. (help.elevenlabs.io)

How to estimate credits per chapter

  • Credits = number of text characters in the chapter × model rate × any voice multiplier (if the Voice Library voice has a custom rate). (help.elevenlabs.io)
  • Model rates:
  • Some shared voices in the Voice Library may apply a custom multiplier to your credit consumption. Factor this in if shown on the voice. (help.elevenlabs.io)

Getting an exact in-product estimate (recommended for books/chapters)

  • Use Studio (Projects): import your chapter text (no charge), then click Export. Studio shows a confirmation with the exact credits that will be used. Re‑exports only charge for paragraphs that are new or edited since the last export. (help.elevenlabs.io)

Notes for long chapters

  • If you generate outside Studio, there are per‑request character limits; Studio is designed for long‑form works like novels. (help.elevenlabs.io)

If you want, share roughly how many characters are in a typical chapter and which model/voice you plan to use, and I’ll calculate the credit estimate.

Short answer:

  • On Flash/Turbo models: ~50,000 credits for 100,000 text characters (0.5 credit per character). (help.elevenlabs.io)
  • On Multilingual v2 or Eleven v3: ~100,000 credits for 100,000 text characters (1 credit per character). (help.elevenlabs.io)
  • Note: Some shared Voice Library voices have custom credit multipliers, which increase consumption. (help.elevenlabs.io)

About uploading text and where you’ll see costs:

  • Uploading or preparing text does not consume credits; credits are only deducted when you generate content. (help.elevenlabs.io)
  • In Studio, you’ll be charged only for paragraphs that haven’t been converted yet or that you edited since the last export; the export dialog shows the exact credits before you confirm. (help.elevenlabs.io)

Limits and tips for long-form:

  • Website single-generation limit: up to 5,000 characters; use Studio for long-form projects. (help.elevenlabs.io)
  • API input limits (per request): Flash/Turbo up to 30k–40k characters; Multilingual/English v1/v2 up to 10k. Studio supports very large projects with per-paragraph (5,000 char) and chapter limits. (help.elevenlabs.io)
  • There’s also a cap on how many credits can be used at once (varies by plan). (help.elevenlabs.io)

If you tell me which model and voice you plan to use, I can calculate the exact expected credits before you generate. (help.elevenlabs.io)

i would plan for V3 model(it has a lot of tags which i can include in my text), and i may use different voices(PVC , or existend ones like Morgan Freeman as eg... to create as well dialogues).
i will do it chapter by chapter, to be sure it creates the emotions and incukdes the tags i want.
