#Hello eleven labs there is an bug that when I use eleven labs it says VPN detected
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Thanks for reporting this. Based on our documentation, the “VPN detected”/similar messaging is typically triggered by our abuse and geolocation safeguards rather than a product bug.
Why it happens
- Free tier abuse detection: If multiple free accounts are seen from the same IP, or the IP appears to be a proxy/VPN, the system can flag the account and disable free-tier usage. Paid accounts are not flagged by this detector. (help.elevenlabs.io)
- Geo-restrictions: Access from sanctioned regions is blocked. Some VPN or hosting exit IPs may be mistakenly flagged as associated with a restricted region by our cloud provider. (help.elevenlabs.io)
What you can do
- Use a unique IP address that isn’t flagged (for example, disconnect the VPN or switch to an unflagged exit node). (help.elevenlabs.io)
- Upgrade to a paid plan if you need to keep using a VPN; paid plans are not affected by the free-tier “unusual activity” detector. (help.elevenlabs.io)
- If you believe you’re being blocked in error (e.g., due to geo-flagging), obtain a new IP and, if the issue persists, contact support via the help center request form. (help.elevenlabs.io)

I can't pay
Here’s how to resolve “can’t pay” issues, per ElevenLabs’ official docs:
- Supported payment methods: Credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and UPI (India only). Prepaid cards often fail—try a different card or method. (help.elevenlabs.io)
- Typical payment‑failure causes: you didn’t complete your bank’s verification (3‑D Secure), your bank declined the charge, or insufficient funds. Complete any extra verification when prompted. (help.elevenlabs.io)
If you’re using Apple Pay:
- Must be on an Apple device; Safari required on macOS; iOS 16+ also supports Chrome/Firefox on iPhone. Ensure a valid card is in Apple Pay and you’re using the same Apple ID. (help.elevenlabs.io)
If you’re using Google Pay:
- Must use Google Chrome (not incognito). Not available on iOS Chrome. Sign into the correct Google account, enable Chrome payment settings, and have a valid card saved. VPNs or rooted devices can prevent Google from verifying your card. Google Pay isn’t available in India. (help.elevenlabs.io)
If you’re in India:
- Checkout will automatically show INR and UPI when eligible. (help.elevenlabs.io)
Update payment method / billing details:
- Add a new card via Subscription → Manage subscription → Manage billing information → Payment Methods → Add payment method → set it as Default; then remove the old card if needed. Billing address/tax ID can be updated in the same area. (help.elevenlabs.io)
- You may be asked to verify your card (no charge) when enabling usage‑based billing or updating details. (help.elevenlabs.io)
Still can’t pay?
- Contact ElevenLabs Support with the exact error message, time of attempt, payment method, and last 4 digits of the card: team@elevenlabs.io, or use the Help Center chat. (help.elevenlabs.io)
If you’re trying to use Google Pay while on a VPN, disconnect it and retry (per Google Pay troubleshooting above). (help.elevenlabs.io)
