Short answer
- Upgrading from Creator annual to a higher annual tier is allowed. When you upgrade, you’re charged the full price of the new annual plan minus a prorated discount for the unused months of your current annual plan (the discount excludes the “two free months” built into annual pricing). Your new annual cycle starts immediately. (help.elevenlabs.io)
- Any unused credits from your current plan are added to the new plan’s quota when you upgrade mid‑cycle. (help.elevenlabs.io)
- If you have usage‑based billing enabled and there’s an outstanding usage balance, that balance is charged immediately at the time of upgrade. (help.elevenlabs.io)
- You cannot switch from an annual plan to a monthly plan mid‑cycle. Upgrades must be annual→annual. (help.elevenlabs.io)
If you only need occasional extra credits (alternative to upgrading)
- On Creator and above, you can enable usage‑based billing to pay for extra credits beyond your monthly quota. Extra usage is billed at the end of the cycle or earlier if your outstanding balance crosses a threshold (Creator: $44). If you later upgrade/downgrade, any outstanding usage balance is charged at that moment. (help.elevenlabs.io)
About “money already paid”
- You don’t lose the unused portion of your current annual term—the prorated value (minus the two free months) is applied as a discount against the new annual plan at upgrade. (help.elevenlabs.io)
- Separately, if a payment was made within the last 14 days and no credit quota from that period was used, you can request a refund under the refund policy. (help.elevenlabs.io)
Need help taking the next step? You can manage your plan from your Subscription page (Manage subscription). (help.elevenlabs.io)

84$ /moth is a lot of money though
Totally understand—costs add up. A few ways to keep costs down without losing access:
- Stay on your annual Creator plan and enable usage-based billing. You’ll only pay for extra credits when you need them, at $0.30 per 1,000 credits on Creator, and you can set a hard cap so charges can’t run away. (help.elevenlabs.io)
- If you upgrade your annual plan (e.g., from Creator to a higher annual tier), you won’t “lose” what you already paid: you’re charged the full price of the new annual plan minus a prorated discount for the unused months of your current annual (note: the proration excludes the two free months that come with annual pricing). Any outstanding usage-based balance is also billed at upgrade, and your new annual cycle starts immediately. (help.elevenlabs.io)
- You can’t switch from an active annual plan to a monthly plan mid-cycle; monthly changes can be made at renewal. For current plan rates, see the pricing page. (help.elevenlabs.io)
If you want, tell me roughly how many extra minutes/credits you need in a typical month and I can estimate whether usage-based billing or an annual upgrade is cheaper using the current pricing. (help.elevenlabs.io)

Honestly I don't specifically need extra credit... At the end of the month I have more credit than usual. I do have (100 000) and it never come to 0. The problem I'm facing is the voice sloth. 30 are not enough for me and I thought I could pay the next tier or take a new creator. But If I don't use all of the 100 000 of the first subscription how could I use all of the credit of the new of... All this just because of voice sloth I don't have enough
