The message you received indicates that the system flagged account for "unusual activity." This doesn't necessarily mean you abused the service. It could be triggered by several factors, such as:
- Shared IP Address: If you're on a network where multiple users share the same IP (e.g., a school, office, or mobile network), the system might detect multiple accounts tied to that IP.
- VPN or Proxy Usage: Even if you're not intentionally using a VPN or proxy, some network setups can appear as such to the system.
- Dynamic IPs: If your internet provider uses dynamic IPs, the IP you were assigned might have been flagged due to prior activity by another user.
Unfortunately, once flagged, the free tier cannot be re-enabled. To resolve this, you have two options:
- Purchase a Paid Plan: Any paid subscription, including the Starter plan at $5, will bypass this restriction and provide additional features.
- Use a Unique IP Address: If you can access the service from an IP that hasn't been flagged, you may be able to continue using the free tier.
We understand this can be frustrating, especially as you're just testing the service. However, these measures are in place to prevent abuse of the free tier. If you have further questions or need assistance, feel free to ask!
- Not a shared IP. I work from home using fiber internet services. I'm the only one with this IP and has been that way for 5+ years.
- No VPN usage
- I need a static IP for work, so it's not dynamic.
None of the scenarios you provided are true.
To get the response "there is nothing we can do" is very suspicious. While I really enjoyed listening to the quality of voices, this leads me to not trust ElevenLabs. Things seem very dishonest.
The message you received indicates that your account was flagged for "unusual activity," which is a limitation applied to free-tier accounts to prevent abuse, such as the creation of multiple accounts from the same IP address. While you mentioned that none of the typical scenarios apply to you, the system's detection is automated and may flag accounts based on patterns it deems suspicious, even if unintentionally.
Unfortunately, once an account is flagged, there is no way to reverse this status. To continue using the service, you have two options:
- Purchase a subscription: Paid accounts are not subject to these restrictions. The Starter plan is available for $5 and includes additional features.
- Use a different IP address: Accessing the service from an unflagged IP can help avoid this issue.
We understand your frustration and regret any inconvenience this has caused. If you have further concerns or feedback, feel free to share them, as we are always looking to improve.
I'll go with option 3) use another service entirely.
