#Is there any way to adjust the speed of the audio segment via the API?
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Currently, there is no direct setting to adjust the speed of audio segments via the API. While a speed control feature is planned for future implementation, it is not yet available. For now, you can adjust the audio speed during post-processing. Additionally, expanding SSML support is on the roadmap, but additional SSML tags for speed control are not currently available.
What does SSML mean?
SSML stands for Speech Synthesis Markup Language. It is a standard used to control various elements of speech synthesis, such as pronunciation, pauses, and speech rates. With ElevenLabs, you can use SSML tags to manage these aspects in the "Eleven English V1" and "Eleven Turbo V2" models.
How do you use it to affect the rate of speeches?
Currently, there is no direct feature to adjust the speed of audio segments via the API. However, you can control the speech pace by adjusting punctuation—adding more commas can speed up the speech, while more periods can slow it down. Expanding SSML support, which could include more detailed speed control, is part of the roadmap, but no specific release date is available. For now, adjusting the audio speed during post-processing is recommended.
