The quality of the generated voice can be influenced by several factors. One of the main factors is the stability of the voice. If the voice drops in volume, starts to whisper, or starts to distort, it is most likely a stability issue or a voice issue. The prevalence of these issues is very dependent on the voice used, how wide the dynamic range is, if there is any low rumble, and in general just how well cloned it is and how good the original samples are.

For anything longer than a few hundred characters, it is highly recommended to use the Projects feature if you are encountering these types of issues. Not only will it be less prone to these issues, it will also allow you to regenerate specific paragraphs you are unhappy with, not the whole text.

Another factor that could contribute to these issues is the settings you are using. Both stability and similarity can change how the voice acts as well as how prominent the artifacts are. For instance, low stability and low similarity can result in higher than usual variation between generations.

Lastly, the performance of the voice is also highly dependent on the voice itself. If you are using a pre-made or voice-designed voice, they tend to be more tempered and less emotional, while a cloned voice tends to exhibit a wider emotional range but that is also highly dependent on the original voice used for the clone.

You can find more information in the guide to troubleshooting, and the guidelines for voice cloning.

I'm using Charlie's standard voice. When I listen to it in the Voices section, it sounds great. But in text to speech, it sounds different. It's muffled, lifeless, and of poor quality. I haven't changed any of the settings.
