Hello,
I'm wanting to set up a dedicated Icarus server and have some questions before I make the purchase.
Can my friend and I bring all solo characters and bases to the new dedicated server? From the different maps as well?
Can my friend bring over his server we both play on to the new server?
Is Jimk's mods or other mods good to use on the dedicated server?
Finally, do we have full control over our rented server?

Hey there!
All your characters can be brought anyways, since this already is oart of the game.
You can upload any savegame, I'll send in the wiki link.
Mods should be working, too.
And what do you mean by full control? Is there anything in specific you want to ask? I can't think of anything you cannot do.

Thank you so much for the response! What I mean is like shutting it down and starting it back up, as long as we both can log on to the server control panel. I'm wanting to be able to shut it down if we will be away for a few days

Restarts, shutdowns and having permissions works.
You'd both need a gportal account on the same 'side' though. Meaning you're hopefully both from the same continent xD
(which I don't need to know) Just make sure if you're from europe to get an EU account and from anywhere else an INT account. Usually any account can switch to the other.
You can then give your friend permissions to any of your servers.
And to be perfectly clear - you are going to buy a set of days or months on a so called gamecloud. This clock keeps ticking wether or not the server is running or any of you is playing or not. Make sure to take that into consideration.
