Game & Server Type – Project Zomboid server, hosted in the Dallas datacenter

Problem Description – We just rented some server space a couple of hours ago with 9gb of allocated RAM. However, according to the Status page, our usage is steadily exceeding 9gb of RAM. We have 5 max concurrent players at the moment and space for 10 players total. We have experienced some lag issues (for instance: Player B appearing stuck in one position on Player A's screen when, in fact, Player B is running around the house killing zombies) but I'm willing to chalk that up to b42 jank.

My primary concern is I'm afraid of using too much RAM and then being charged for it later.

Server Details – Vanilla; no mods are installed at the moment. Changes apart from default configuration include allowing for safehouses in commercial buildings, multihit, and saliva-only transmission.

Troubleshooting Steps Taken – I did restart the server but the RAM usage remains over 9gb, even with just 1 player online.

RAM is interesting.
What are the settings regarding zombie count?
Desync is a huge problem in this game and not only in B42.
In b41 people get „stuck“ as well because of that. With much less RAM.

#

Is there anything you changed in the sandbox vars?

Not that I recall, let me pull it up and get the numbers

#

(Also, in the future if I need help, should I ping ProjectZ-Helper directly or wait for a mod to do it?)

#

Yes, our zombie count is high, it is urban-focused, and Voronoi noise is set to True.

#

And frankly that was way too many zombies anyway! 🙂 Let me reduce the number of zombies and I bet that'll help.

yep, setting the zombie count to normal reduced the RAM usage

#

still a smidge above the limit but way better than it was

#

I also figured out how to update my RAM allocation for the server, so it won't be a problem anymore. (I'm new to GPortal so I had a bit of a learning curve there, haha.) Thank you so, so much for your help! We can mark this closed.
