I started my game, put myself on the Mine location, because I was up to coal. started up as many boosts as I could and walked away from my pc.

I came back after an hour and sold everything at the Dust deposit. I came back 2 hours later and I have no sand, or sawdust. I have quit and re-joined. and it did not start again.

I went onto the road location and it started again.
I went back to the Mine location, Sold ALL of my dust and sand and Sawdust didn't start again.

Are you certain that you have any managers that produce sand and sawdust when you are not at a location that contains it?

Well the first manager wont collect any dust for you but Carl should.

Auto vacuum is the effect you need to collect dust at locations you are not at

You can also get managers with auto vacuum as the secondary effect that applies to all locations so you get a little everywhere : )
