The Bloodseeker is a special zombie that mostly shows up in multi-story buildings like Mitchum Powell Plaza or St. Bernadette Hospital. It wears a nurse or doctor outfit since it’s drawn to the smell of blood… or meat.

Normally, Bloodseeker stays inactive and only activates under two conditions:

  • When a survivor get bleeding effect or has an open wound.
  • When a survivor is carrying raw meat in their inventory.

Once triggered, it wakes up and starts tracking, drops to the ground and starts crawling slowly toward the source. If the survivor is bleeding, they’ll leave a visible blood trail the Bloodseeker can follow, giving players a heads-up that they’re being hunted. It crawls like a dog tracking a scent. It’s slower than a regular zombie walking, but it doesn’t stop once it's locked in.
When it gets line of sight, it stands up and charges like a normal zombie. But if the survivor patches the wound or drops the meat before being spotted, it’ll still head to the last known location where the trail ended or where the meat was dropped. When it gets there, it stays alert, sniffing around the area for a while. If it doesn’t detect anything new, it eventually settles back down.

This mechanic encourages survivors to always carry and use bandages because untreated wounds become a liability. At the same time, it makes carrying raw meat risky, forcing players to decide if the food is worth the attention. This adds an interesting layer of tension and decision-making during scavenging runs. You can’t just sit in a corner and wait for it to go away. Overall, IBloodseeker is designed to break passive playstyles and force survivors to keep moving around, balancing pressure without being too punishing.

I don't think you can patch yourself with bandages during a scavenge, though. You have to wait until the next phase, unless that changed with the latest update?

Adjusted consumable items so survivors can now use them while they are out scavenging. Items that require a phase to take effect still won't be instant. Players will need to return to their shelter alive to gain the effect of these items after consuming.
