Walking past it does nothing, unless jumping it does not trigger.
(on that spot i went to main menu and made a copy of the savefile if needed)

Looks like its placed too high. Can you press the minus key from your numlock keyboard, and send me the screenshot with the white text while standing near the trap?

If you too are far away from it, its fine.

those traps only trigger if your body is on the same height.. you can also crawl underneath them. My guess is because it is on a stair, your character simply walks underneath it instead of "in front" of it
