Instead of a retroactive payout, isn’t this the kind of project you could apply for in advance—where you list the costs, how many people are involved, how often you plan to host a Space, and include some metrics to measure impact? Like how many unique listeners each Space gets, or how many people join the VOI Discord after tuning in.

#

Another possible metric could be sending e.g. GM token to a specific VOI address, to track how many new accounts were created in connection with the Spaces.

This is a continuation and final of the original space hosts retro-grant. Thirty weeks of groundwork, three host and changes for future X host metrics/requests/kpis moving forward.

Someone should make a worksheet to help track metrics

Looks like what is missing from the proposal is a definitive start date and tracking on a month to month basis but we'll take it as the Oct 2024 which put us around pre mainnet.

#

I would advise any linking between VOI token request value and USD. This has been the case since Nov 2024.

#

Objectively speaking, when we compare the previous proposal the current one it looks like this:

[Previous proposal]

10mo, 200 spaces, 540k VOI, 54k per mo

[Current proposal]

7mo, 90 spaces, 2.6M VOI (~5x), 371k per mo

Space hosts could improve in terms of kpi tracking and documentation. I've been to the spaces and can attest that there have been constructive conversations not to mention it is a perfect venue to gauge community sentiment outside of committee meetings that not all of our community members are able to attend. The issue is that we don't have anything to tie the activies to. However, as of later the spaces have become more organized.

#

I'll say the token request should be somewhere between 0.5M and 2.6M.

#

I don't think that we should overlook sustainability and ongoing engagement as our proposer is aware of similar activities such as WompCrew that have received a grant and are now sustainable.

#

At this rate on the 20yr horizon we are looking 12M to 88M (0.88%) of supply towards space hosting.

Personally I get a lot out of the spaces, they really help Voi be an actual community

Given the Block Authority role as the judiciary arm of the Voi governance model, I typically do not weigh in on proposals -- good, bad or indifferent. However, I do feel compelled to provide thoughts on this proposal, as I do believe I am one of the few people involved in the Council/Block Authority/Foundation structure that has an almost daily interaction with the Voi Spaces.

First (and truly foremost), I see @red crypt @TacosAreLife 🌮 GM fam 😉 and @compact urchin as prime examples of non-technical, massively supportive, high energy members of the Voi community.

I have seen and heard about a number of people trying to analyze this (and the prior) Space host proposal in terms of "metrics". How many listeners? How many hours? How many onboarded? How many quality guests? And many other questions. I believe all grant requests should be subjected to scrutiny and questions -- and this one is no different. There is a tension, though, with providing clear, tangible outputs here in that these Spaces are designed to be predictable time slots that create a perpetual "vibe" for people to enjoy and discuss Voi or stumble upon Voi and have a friendly, excited member of the community to onboard them. We're not going to find specific metrics that "justify" a specific amount of $VOI.

There is also an "issue" in that these Spaces are incredibly informal, not recorded, held (usually) in a time slot that most of the Voi community will not be able to meaningfully participate. Typically, these Spaces open at or after 9:30 p.m. EST and are not recorded for people to listen to later (not that there is a ton of content that you'd take the time to come back to hear). But, this is much of the point (aside from the inability for many to even join -- this should be addressed by others in other regions doing much of the same to expand, not punish those who are already doing it) that these are Spaces that you know are going to be there, sets up a place to meet up and talk Voi and provide a welcome mat to others to join the community.

This brings me to a higher level item. I personally believe (and credit to @woeful spear to helping me see things a bit differently) that this grant request is much more about rewarding three Voi community members for showing up, every week, creating a fun environment, connecting people to the ecosystem and doing it without specific assurances beyond "protecting your own bag". This is what we want. We want Voi community members to step up and do things for the ecosystem. Promote it, ethically, Welcome and help people join in and find out about the virtues of the ecosystem. It's not about some "hourly wage", it's about exhibiting and implementing the ideals of the Voi community.

This grant (and the prior grant) also highlights a very material issue (in my eyes) that grant applicants really struggle with our process. Even our most avid community members -- involved in this application -- make extremely negative comments about the process, their treatment and perceived lack of appreciation. This tone has to change. Being subjected to a public review is not easy. It's hard to see others declare what is and is not your value. I've listened to many -- these applicants in particular -- vent about the process for what feels like over a year. It was never necessary and it isn't now.

Long story short (too late), I support this grant request. I support it because these are actors who should be rewarded for the almost daily passion to support and promote Voi. They've done that, in part, by adding to a predictable Twitter community with a place to stop in. I don't support it based on some "hourly wage" or specific metrics -- I just know that there are other high quality members now here because of it. Others should follow suit and grants should be funded for others who passionately support and promote the Voi ecosystem (i.e. people running and implementing $AMMO down the road).

Kind words Gov, and yes I vibe code all my spaces.

Generally I show up 2 times per week to host because VOI needs it. Without spaces, the only interaction people would have with VOI is the Discord or Womp Poker. There continues to be a need for access to VOI members outside of metrics and data, technical papers and how-to videos. That’s generally why I show up.

If council members and others are not knowledgeable about the spaces which have been ongoing for several years, I encourage you to attend one or two. This is where meaningful onboarding occurs. Not number of wallets, but some guy who wants to talk about VOI at conferences. Someone passionate about AMMO. Someone who dreams of grasping a Dork and calling it their own.

That’s what we are doing. Sometimes I’d rather be doing something else but I always try to get the space open and allow for meaningful dialogue, and that dialogue only happens with engaged and enthusiastic community members that spaces fuel. It’s not a monologue.

Thanks for your support, and for my future UNIT purchase or stacked node rewards.

Yes, thank you Gov.

I agree with Haroof, the ecosystem services provided by past hosting is a metric that is hard to nail down. Especially, if you've never attended one of our spaces. Taco and Haroof are very knowledgeable about everything Voi and I am close behind them. What you will not see is all the messaging, questions we get asked when not hosting. The three of maintain a respected network of people and are committed to:

-Goodwill
-Integrity
-Collaboration
-Intentionality

That is what you want when people metaphorically walk into our spaces.

Also, I want to propose an idea for hosting moving forward to be discussed. We'll have that conversation another place then here.

Great feedback and I appreciate the feedback.

I agree with all your points and I'd like to also add a few points of my own.

It's not always easy to show up consistently but I can say IceAge, Haroof and Myself have shown up consistently. We've also had people like Legend, Mazza, Bagman and now Peña host spaces. This is snowballing and I hope with the passage of this proposal it'll fuel even more motivation for myself and the other hosts to continue to bring quality content to the voi community and outsiders.

My Tuesday spaces are all about sharing the good word about voi and share recent developments, onboard others if I can, help answer any questions anyone has either during spaces or outside them in DMs.

It's an honor to be a KOL within the Voi Network and it's a title I hold dearly and in high regard.

I think when it comes to not all voi community members able to attend the X Spaces, I'd suggest we try to recruit some space hosts in different time zones... we've got the USA pretty much covered.

Love you all 🖖🏼
