Leaving aside all the connection and bug issues (which are already way too many), Crossplay was originally advertised as a key feature during the closed beta in early August. But when the game officially launched, it was missing. As a result, the player base got split, and matchmaking during off-peak hours became painfully long. Then Patch 3 was announced for September 3rd (tentative) to finally bring Crossplay back—delayed by one day to September 4th, which I thought was fine. But now September 4th has arrived, and all we get is another statement saying “we ran into an unexpected issue” and another delay.
Is game testing just for fun? Beta servers and pre-release testing are supposed to identify and fix issues until the build is stable, before setting a release date. Instead, it feels like you set a date first, rush to meet it, then only after testing discover problems you can’t fix in time—leading to more delays, more apologies, and more frustration.
This seriously hurts all the players who love the game (and who are sick of endless overhead kicks in the penalty area), as well as the streamers who have been backing the game and building hype for the updates. Everyone has been eagerly waiting for this patch, only for the dev team to hand us another mess with an apology. For example, my friend on Xbox cleared his entire afternoon tomorrow to play Rematch with me, and now that’s completely ruined.
To be honest, the game itself is really fun, and many of the issues we had at launch have been fixed. But the development team feels like a disaster. The player count keeps dropping, from launch delays to the previous patch delay to this new delay—it just feels like the players are being treated like fools again and again. I know the devs don’t mean it, but I really hope this doesn’t happen anymore. I’d rather wait longer and have the patch 100% ready before announcing a date, instead of being told “it’s coming today” and then watching it get delayed yet again.
That’s all I have to say. See you all when Patch 3 finally arrives.
